At the Hjerl Hede Open Air Museum you will travel through time when you explore in and around the old, historic houses.

There are experiences and changing activities all year round.

We bring history to life with animating in the summer and at Christmas, where people in period clothing take you back to the old days.

Here you get close to everyday life from around the 17th to the 19th century and can experience how we master and work with crafts.

In the period from December 15, 2025 – March 29, 2026 The historic houses are closed for the winter. We do this to care for and maintain the old buildings. Here you can always walk between the houses, gardens and fields and enjoy the quiet, historic surroundings.

Also visit all the animals belonging to historical breeds that live throughout the 20-hectare museum grounds.

Hjerl Hede has a large playground with half-timbered houses at child height with a grocery store, farm and wooden horses.

Take the family to Hjerl Hede and learn, play and feel your way through history.

There is free entrance for everyone under 18 years of age. Dogs on a leash also get in for free.
